Crossing the Southern Ocean from Hobart to Davis, Antarctica

On 19 November 2012 our ship the Aurora Australis departed Hobart for a two week voyage across the Southern Ocean to Davis, an AAD base in eastern Antarctica. Our voyage V1 was the first resupply to the Australian bases, and was running nearly two weeks behind schedule due to the ship being stuck in ice during the previous SIPEX (sea ice physics experiment) voyage. We had a good crossing and minimal delays although for a while there it looked like we might have been a little stuck and our GPS track started to look interesting. For many this trip was a highlight of the Antarctica experience. See also my blog http://rivieraofthesouth.wordpress.com/2013/01/17/getting-to-antarctica/
